Designing for an Aging Population: New Emergency Departments on Cape Cod
In this presentation:
Hospitals are focusing delivery of care models toward geriatric patients in an effort to make meaningful impacts and to benefit patient outcomes for an aging population. Keeping patients ambulatory and creating hospital environments that encourage community use are important goals. How can we optimize access to care by adapting space for physical limitations, sensory changes, and psychological barriers? This case study will explore clinical initiatives and design features incorporated into two Cape Cod emergency departments.
