Hello all,

With the cancellation of the Spring Seminar and in-person Fall Conference (though we look forward to the education and networking opportunities at the virtual event!), it has been a tough ride through this year. I know that all of us have been up to our ears responding to all kinds of requests to adapt to the COVID needs. We will not be able to see each other in person and enjoy sharing in the miseries that we all endure, but we look forward to continuing one of my favorite NEHES traditions each year… the Annual Motorcycle Ride & Fall Foliage Tour where we can take the opportunity to be with some of our friends that share a different interest that we have in common: motorcycling.

Below is the tentative Massachusetts ride for this year. We can do this while still maintaining compliance with CDC guidelines regarding distancing (naturally, on different bikes) and masking. We’d like to hold the ride a little earlier than last year and plan to start on Friday, September 18th, and return home on Sunday, September 20th, after making our way to Martha’s Vineyard. For those that do not wish to stay over, you can make Friday's ride and return home from our Falmouth destination.

Day 1 (Friday)
Meet at Starbucks, 2 Wayside Road in Burlington, MA (Depart 9:00am)
Lunch at Crystals Kitchen In West Bridgewater, MA
Arrive in Falmouth
Total (131 miles)

Starts down 95 and peels off at Route 2A in Lexington. Backroads the rest of the way.

Day 2 (Saturday)
Head down to Woods Hole
Take the morning ferry (9:30 am) to Martha’s Vineyard
We will have plenty of time to tour the entire Island.
Lunch TBD
Take a late afternoon (4:30 pm) ferry back and have dinner back in Falmouth.
No specific pre-planned route, we will cover it all.

Day 3 (Sunday)
Depart AM
We will head west and loop through Newport, Ocean Drive
Lunch at Dan’s Place, West Greenwich, RI
Finish at Dunkin Donuts in Groton, MA
Total (219 miles)

We have a small discounted block of rooms available at the Admiralty Inn in Falmouth. Please call the number below and mention the group name: New England Healthcare Engineers' Society (NEHES). It will be up to each rider to make their own hotel reservation. You are welcome to pay extra for an upgraded room. If the group block is full, please contact me and we may be able to add additional rooms at the $120 rate (they only allow 10 at a time).

Admiralty Inn - $120/night
51 Teaticket Hwy.
E. Falmouth, MA 02536

Also, we do not mind if there are cars that ride along with us for the tour. If you do decide to join in your car, you will need to make a reservation for the ferry for the Saturday morning (9:30 am) and afternoon (4:30 pm) crossings. Reservations are not required for motorcycles.

Best regards,

Paul Cantrell
